Hillis Chess Club-21st Century

After school activities at Hillis Elementary have been rolling this fall as students have been taking part in many clubs and activities. From Track work to the Chess Club, students have had a busy after-school schedule this year, made possible with the sponsorship of 21st Century Community Learning Centers.”  On Monday afternoons Chess Club has been an exciting spot as students pit their best strategies against each other in friendly competition. “The Game of Kings” proved to be a fascinating lesson plan in developing strategies for many issues in life beyond chess. The facilitator David Borzo worked with students to develop their board strategy and planning skills as well as have fun improving their game.
