Thank you to everyone who turned out to support Hillis during the Beaverdale Fall Festival Parade! We had a blast!
Look what our second graders built after one class at Cora’s Cupboard! These delicious veggies are right out of the Hillis garden. They looked so good, we set them out for our parents to see. Students are learning to cook healthy foods at Cora’s — a school kitchen that looks a lot like the one they have at home!
Bike Smoothie Night at Hillis Elementary lived up to the name. Our student is pedaling to turn a blender blade, making strawberry-banana smoothies! BSN is one of the school’s many parent networking nights.
You can now find out what’s for breakfast and lunch at every school on every day of the year. You can even find out nutritional information. Just visit the Dining section on the new DMPS Mobile App. If you don’t yet have the app, click the header to download it for Apple or Android and learn more about its many features.
Whiteboards have become the new classroom-sized tablet! Our new EPSON projectors make any whiteboard interactive. The cutting-edge tool is enhancing student instruction and giving students another learning method to get excited about.
5th graders prepared roasted potatoes during ECO Hour this week. Locally grown potatoes were prepared in classroom crockpots, baking all morning and enjoyed by everyone. ECO Hour is an hour every Wednesday when each class at Hillis commits to learning more about wellness, nutrition, citizenship, science and much more.
