Hillis students serving the community this summer

Hillis Summer School students have been working on service projects all summer. They continued that commitment July 13th when 4th and 5th grade students boarded a bus to visit residents at Plymouth Place, a senior rental property in Des Moines. Students brought along favorite books to read – although based on some of the animated conversations observed many of the students didn’t get to the books!  Plymouth Place’s common area was taken over for an hour and a half with residents and students getting to know each other, with many questions and engaged conversations. The students also gave the residents a gift, a hand made picture frame that they made at the school.
